“If I could go there, I would spit in the forehead of the Azerbaijani MP, because he is lying”: Naira Zohrabyan

“Here are the brothers, cousins, relatives, and compatriots of those who killed our sons with ‘fatalities’; our prisoners of war are beheaded and tortured,” former MP Naira Zohrabyan told reporters on February 22 during a protest rally against the visit of Azerbaijani delegates to Yerevan within the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly.

According to her, in today’s speech, the Azeri delegate once again distorted the facts, saying that there are no Armenian prisoners of war. “You are lying, we still have dozens of prisoners of war,” she countered.

As for the Azerbaijani statement that Azerbaijan is open to show to the international community that it preserves its cultural heritage, Naira Zohrabyan stressed. “If I could go there, I would spit on that deputy’s forehead, because he is lying. A few days ago, UNESCO issued a toothless statement on what we warned them about. I have clarified from my French colleagues that all traces of Armenianness from Artsakh are being eliminated on a daily basis. I was told that there was almost no trace of Armenianness left on the Shushi Cathedral. UNESCO cannot go to the occupied territories of Artsakh because Azerbaijan forbids it.”

Naira Zohrabyan also asked why the Armenian delegation could not put on the agenda of Euronest the crimes committed by Azerbaijan during the war, the issues of torture of Armenian prisoners of war, cultural vandalism by Azerbaijan, while the issue of Russian aggression against Ukraine is on the agenda. “The pro-government deputies are the majority, why did they not include these issues in the agendas?”
