Prime Minister Pashinyan’s visit to Ankara to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who won the elections in Turkey, caused a strong adverse reaction in the opposition part of the society.
Indeed, it should be remembered that we are talking about the same Erdogan, whose country led the armed forces of Azerbaijan during the 44-day war of 2020; modern offensive weapons were not only provided to the enemy but also controlled by the Turkish military, most likely, from the territory of Turkey itself.
Today, many people also remember that this is not the first visit of Armenia to Turkey at the level of a leader. Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serzh Sargsyan also visited the neighboring country. But they were in Turkey as the presidents of the victorious or winning country. In particular, in April 1993, when the first president of RA participated in the funeral of Turkish president Ozal, Berdzor and Karvachar regions were under our control. The remaining visits took place after May 1994.
Meanwhile, Pashinyan is the leader of a defeated country, from whom the winning side, Turkey and Azerbaijan, demands “spoils of war ” in return for the defeat. I am also sure that the Turkish side raised the issue of dismantling the “Nemesis” statue. The statue’s installation may have been controversial, but its dismantling will be another national disgrace.

However, I’m afraid I have to disagree with those who believe the visit is wrong. Looking at what agenda was taking place and how Pashinyan responded to the demands of others. Nobody will officially tell us the truth anyway.
But the reality will become apparent in the coming days or weeks. Pashinyan’s reaction and the level of brazenness of Azerbaijan’s subsequent actions are directly comparable.
