December 11,2023 14:45

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan attended the opening ceremony of the reconstructed Dilijan sports complex in Tavush Province.

The Prime Minister congratulated those present on the occasion of the opening of the sports complex and noted. “What I heard a while ago is a bit bitter, because it was said that this is the only sports school of Dilijan. In other words, what was said can show by itself what kind of problem we are facing and what problems we have to solve, but what I said is not a hint that it is difficult. No matter how difficult it may be, we must solve these problems. Just two days ago, at the Cabinet meeting, we adopted the “2024-2030 strategy for the development of physical culture and sports in the Republic of Armenia”. That strategy is basically about that we have to develop the sports infrastructure in Armenia, but it is very important that the Government is not alone on this path. I want to give special thanks to the GreenRock company for such an initiative.”

According to Nikol Pashinyan, the Government’s agenda and task are very clear. it is necessary to make sure that every child, even every adult, has access to the infrastructure to play sports. “And now we are creating quite a large number of sports infrastructures in the form of schools. Two days ago, it was announced again at the Cabinet meeting that within the next month, we will commission 25 gymnasiums for those schools that do not have such gymnasiums.

It is important for this process to continue and for the private sector to invest in line with the Government’s strategies,” Nikol Pashinyan said, adding that the government’s role is to direct private investments that are within the scope of social responsibility. “All these investments must fully comply with the strategies adopted by the Government, so that we can get synergy,” said Nikol Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister toured the sports complex and got acquainted with the implemented construction works. It was presented to the Prime Minister that the last time the sports complex of Dilijan was renovated was in 2006. The project was implemented in cooperation with Dilijan City Hall and the international development company GreenRock Management Group. The exterior and interior design of the building has changed. New sports property and equipment were acquired. According to the representatives, wrestling, boxing, arm wrestling, football, table tennis and artistic gymnastics teams will operate in the school. Now more than 500 people can train in the school. The sports complex is also provided with equipment for training girls.

In Dilijan, the Prime Minister also got acquainted with the renovation works of the art school named after Hovhannes Sharambeyan. In order to bring the monument-building back to its former appearance, 232 million AMD was allocated under the subsidy program for reinforcement and repair works, of which the Government co-financed 93 million AMD.

Nikol Pashinyan also got acquainted with the asphalting works of the road section from Kalinin 256 to Aygestan 1/1 in Dilijan, which have already been completed. It was reported that the total budget of the works implemented within the subsidy program was 128 million AMD, 60% of which was co-financed by the Dilijan municipality and 40% by the Government.

As part of the emergency program, in 2023, the Government donated one garbage truck (value: 61 million 500 thousand AMD) and one universal vacuum truck (value: 80 million AMD) to the Dilijan community. Prior to that, one garbage truck and 200 garbage cans were purchased for Dilijan within the same project.
