Work discussion on the theme Armenian Cultural Heritage Destruction by Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabakh

After ethnic cleansing perpetrated by Azerbaijan in 2023, Azerbaijan continues the process of erasing the traces of the Armenian people, which is clearly evidenced by the elimination of historical and cultural values. The deputy of the RA NA Armenia Faction Anna Grigoryan said this.

On October 18, the deputies of the RA NA With Honor and Armenia factions Taguhi Tovmasyan and Anna Grigoryan initiated a work discussion on the theme Destruction of Armenian Cultural Heritage by Azerbaijan in Nagorno Karabakh (NK) in parliament. Politicians, representatives of the international structures and historians participated in the discussion.

All material and non-material heritage defining the identity of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh – about 5000 monuments, 20 state, 3 non-state, and more than one dozen school museums with numerous exhibits, churches, monastery complexes, cross-stones, castles, cemeteries are on the way to destruction: The participants of discussion voice. Still in 1950-1960 the usurpation of Armenian identity carried out by Azerbaijan was more emphasized especially after the events of 2023. It was noted that the lithographic inscriptions, the religious buildings, art monuments built after 1994 are destroyed.

It was proposed to carry out cataloging of the list of the NK museums, museum collections, exhibits, as well as regularly organize exhibitions of museum, historical exhibits moved from Nagorno Karabakh. The issue of the necessity of maintaining museum exhibits saved from destruction was underlined.
