On April 17, within the framework of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union the bilateral meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan took place in Istanbul.
During the meeting, the latest processes within the frameworks of the normalisation of relations between the two countries were stated with satisfaction, including the steps aimed at strengthening peace and stability, as well as the establishment and expansion of trade ties.

The role of the Inter-Parliamentary Union as an important platform for inter-parliamentary cooperation was underscored. In this context, the parties highly appreciated and expressed gratitude to the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong for his personal efforts towards the formation of dialogue between the Speakers of the Parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The speakers of the parliaments positively assessed the contacts between the parliamentary delegations within the frameworks of international organizations, which began after the meeting held in Geneva in October 2025, and agreed to continue those contacts.
The speakers of the parliaments of Armenia and Azerbaijan emphasized the importance of continuing the constructive parliamentary dialogue for further strengthening the trust between the two societies.
