On 1st June, the EU launched a new two-year project – “Support to the visa liberalisation dialogue in Armenia in border management, document security and law enforcement reforms” – which will assist the Government of Armenia in advancing key reforms of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation (VLAP).
The project will be implemented by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA) with the support of the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania.
The launch of the project follows the publication of the first progress report on the implementation of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalisation (VLAP) handed over to the Government at the EU-Armenia summit.
The report provided recommendations across the VLAP’s four reform areas:
▪️ security of travel documents;
▪️ border, migration and asylum management;
▪️ public order and security issues;
▪️ and fundamental rights issues related to the freedom of movement.
