The Armenian National Committee of Lebanon Commended Taleb’s Position
Today, the Armenian National Committee of Lebanon extends its sincere appreciation to Nassim Nicholas Taleb for his principled decision to decline an invitation to lecture in Azerbaijan, despite repeated attempts to persuade him with a significantly increased financial offer.
By making it clear that no financial incentive could outweigh his ethical convictions, and by refusing to visit Azerbaijan while Armenian philanthropist and humanitarian Ruben Vardanyan remains unjustly imprisoned, he has demonstrated exceptional integrity and moral courage.
At a time when fundamental human rights continue to be challenged, this unwavering stance reminds us that principles should never be sacrificed for personal or financial gain. It is a powerful affirmation that conscience, justice, and human dignity must always come first.

As Armenian hostages remain unjustly detained in Baku, we hope Dr. Taleb’s example inspires intellectuals, academics, and public figures around the world to uphold these same values and speak out in defense of justice and human rights.
We thank Dr. Taleb for showing that integrity remains the highest standard of public life and wish him continued success in his scholarly and intellectual endeavors.
