Today journalist Hayk Gevorgyan who is responsible for Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper issue told during a conversation with Aravot.am how he was persecuted and generally what his arrest had aimed at. It turns out that Hayk, realizing that they were following him and wanted to find an “emergency,” didn’t commit any violations, used exceptionally crosswalks, strictly followed rules, he switched turn lights on even while entering the garage, in order that they didn’t have any reason to arrest him, “In the past, I sometimes wrote down license plate numbers, tried to remember faces, but then I realized that it was pointless.” The latest publications about the Chief of Police, according to Hayk, were just a pretext – they waited for it for a long time. “Let’s say, if younger journalists see that they do such things to a more experienced journalist, they will think, ‘What they will do to us then.’ Now my goal is to let young journalists know that the journalistic community can rise and tread on those ideas that occurred to obscurants.” Hayk assured that he was not a politician and he had no personal interest, he just wanted other journalists to be bolder.

Hayk Gevorgyan is anxious about his family and thinks that a journalist becomes vulnerable by that, although he doesn’t think that they are such fanatics, “Nonetheless, they opened criminal cases against my two sons, they tried one of them; one can expect everything from them.”
