“The reputation of the president of Armenia is secured both in the Armenian political environment and his prestige has increased internationally in recent years, in particular”, said Galust Sahakyan, the leader of the RPA faction and the deputy chairman of the RPA during a conversation with Aracot.am, not agreeing with Levon Shirinyan’s opinion that there was an issue of increasing the reputation of the president phenomenon.
In Galust Sahakyan’s words, the president himself has worked on increasing his prestige, “He treats the Armenian drawbacks rather wisely and philosophically, the main factor is the president himself.”
We inquired from the deputy chairman of the Republican Party whether he agreed with the political scientist’s statement that “it would be better, if the president of the republic did not lead the party list, why, because it would be clearly perceived as copying the Russian experience, naturally, it wouldn’t be appreciated and the president phenomenon will be devalued.” The RPA faction leader said in response, “I don’t want to object, because it is our mentality; everyone says what he thinks. The political system all over the world is represented by parties, he speaks of things from the age of emperors, usually, every leader of the party leads the party list, and the party list is for the party to be fully represented.”
