During the closing ceremony of the 6th Return Festival of Classical Music on October 31, a concert with Boris Giltburg and Ara Papyan, famous pianists representing Israel, will take place in the Aram Khachatryan Concert Hall.
Talking about the difference between the Armenian and foreign audiences during a conversation with www.aravot.am, Mr. Papyan stated, “I personally know the most part of the Armenian audience, I know their critical and demanding attitude toward any performance. Playing in Armenia requires a great deal of responsibility and despite the exactingness, our audience is a grateful one, if it gives its heart to someone, it gives it honestly.”
In response to our question whether he had really left the fatherland offended at the time, which is a subject that had been discussed among musicians and in the press lots of times, Mr. Papyan said, “I will never leave Armenia offended, I am not a touchy girl, am I? I left
here in 1991, a hard time in all fields of activity and I was a young artist, a musician who had objective reasons to give it a try abroad. There has been no offense, there are many proofs for that – I performed with the Chamber Orchestra, which was headed by Ruben Aharonyan, in 1993, after I had left; I also performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra headed by Chgnavoryan twice.”
