September 07,2013 00:01

“Everybody were saying that the negotiations around the Association Agreement, the issue of establishing a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area extremely angered the Russian side. Russia perceives it as follows: Armenia did first step to get out of the Russian impact zone. And now Vladimir Putin made it clear that if you leave the zone of influence, then be kind also to ensure your security system. This is a very simple task,”- so interpreted political scientist Yervand Bozoyan in the interview with Aravot.am regarding the statement of Serzh Sargsyan joining the Customs Union. To our question if everything was so simple, then why the Armenian side was conducting negotiates with the European side for about 4 years, was it a performance, the political scientist replied,- “I have not seen anything like that in the world’s practice that the country’s officials state that they want to move in another direction, and change it in one day all of a sudden.”

To our question whether it is possible that with such a policy the Armenian party wanted to raise the price of Armenia in Russia, Yervand Bozoyan replied,- “If they have thought like that, I just do not have a word to say. Now I am also curious as to what answer Serzh Sargsyan is going give to the European institutions, because such behavior, in essence, is amazing. The leader of the country conducts his official campaign and line in one direction, changes in the last 3 days in 180 degree and makes another decision.” We were also interested whether it is possible to raise a new wave of change of authorities in the country after Serzh Sargsyan’s statement, the political scientist said that he does not see the potential for it, “At this moment I do not see anything like that.”
