There is nothing absolute

November 20,2013 14:13

One of my friends showed an episode from “Comedy club”. Semyon Slepakov performs his song, which is actually about the migrants. The plot of the song is as follows: a Russian girl wants to get married to ‘Khachik’, in other words, to an Armenian man, and when her dream becomes true, “Khachik” is displaying eastern savageness and backward despotism with all of its colors. Let us leave aside why Armenian owners of the “Comedy Club” allow such manifestation of racism and chauvinism, ultimately, they are citizens of Russia and abide by the rules of the game of Russian policy. The matter is about tolerance and “political correctness”.

These words, as it is known, have become something of a curse among vast public in Russia and Armenia. If you talk restraint and correct about a group, no matter it is a majority, or a minority (but, especially, of course, in the second case), you, at the most, have fallen behind some meaningless Cimmerians of Europe, or at least, a spy of “International dark forces” and an agent. A question arises, if the Europeans are so stupid, then why the level of life is a few times higher there.

However, everything becomes unpleasant and unacceptable in its extreme manifestations. The sense of loss of your faith and your homeland can be a display of extreme ‘political correctness’. In other word, one thing is when you have yours and respect other’s, completely different thing is when yours and other’s are the same for you. Generally, there is nothing absolute in this heavenly life.

You should not make the role of your personality absolute. Uruguayan President José Alberto Mujica Cordano lives in a rural house, eats the cabbage of his own cultivation, and drives the car bought by him in 1987. But, no one probably can claim that Uruguay is the most prosperous and developed country in the world.

You should not make the role of the people absolute. Georgians and our “starting conditions” were almost equal, but after conducting a few legitimate elections, the neighbors were able to move ahead of us in several issues. Just enough to say that, according to “Transparency international”, Georgia is on the 68th line in perception of level of corruption, whereas Armenia – on the 123rd line. To say that Saakashvili, with all his eccentricity, played no role in it, of course, it would be an exaggeration.

You should not even make the freedom absolute. Both in Russia, the Soviet Union and around the world, most of the highest achievements of art have been created under the most severe censorship. Perhaps, in spite of it.
