January 09,2017 09:21

Aravot.am asked the Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan whether there is any news about the subversive acts in Tavush marz and whether it was committed by one person or by a group. Movses Hakobyan, the Chief of General Staff of Armed Forces, responded to our question.  As he mentioned, he personally was present at the scene, “All of you must understand that the information that is at the disposal of the General Staff is not accessible to the public. Օnly the information that does not contain confidentiality is accessible.

After the April events, the satiety that is carried out in frontline has produced its positive result. And for dozens of cases, the enemy’s actions were timely disclosed and prevented. Preventive measures were carried out to halt the enemy reach its goals.”

As mentioned by Movses Hakobyan, what happened in the North-Western Army Corps, the incident has been analyzed in detail, “The enemy has carried out a task and was wounded. The remaining actions are quite confidential to the media and the public.  Overall, I can say that the group that has gone in support has acted quite skillfully and has not allowed the enemy to carry out its goal to the end.”

To the question of Aravot.am that after the April war, the defense officials are regularly assuring that the borders are upgraded with all necessary equipment, however, we recently witnessed an attempt of subversive act again which resulted in the deaths of soldiers, Vigen Sargsyan answered that the upgrading of the borders with modern equipment is an ongoing process.

It has neither a beginning nor an end, “Once the new equipment is installed, simultaneously the opportunity of neutralizing or reducing the capabilities of this equipment and installing a more modern equipment emerge.  Accordingly, this process will constantly be under the supervision of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Ministry of Defence.  There is no equipment that excludes the penetration, but the more the frontline is equipped the less is the possibility of the penetration.  This occurrence is proved by the facts since April, by the number of intrusion attempts.”

On the early morning of April 2, 2016 Azerbaijan unleashed large-scale military actions on the line of contact with Nagorno Karabagh. The Armenian side turned to defensive and counteroffensive actions. A ceasefire was reached on April 5.
