As we have informed previously, there was an incident during ombudsman Armen Tatoyan’s conference. Notes signifying “Human Rights Defender of the Republican Party of Armenia” were posted on his table as well as on the entrance of the Human Rights Defender’s Office. In this regard, no ombudsman has received such title, how do you interpret it?
Arman Tatoyan answered: “A party or a group of people do not matter for me. I was elected by the parliament with the broadest legitimacy, it gave me a chance to be very strict with my assessments. I will be consistent to the end, no matter it is the Republican Party of Armenia or any party. The fact that the Republican Party nominated me, is of no importance. I was elected, and I am working and am I bringing this institution and me to discredit in order to start defending party interests? It is excluded. He said, when he gets reprimands and criticism from civil society, he becomes attractive for criticism of state authorities.
