Co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) in Armenia met with the representatives of parliamentary factions of the Armenian parliament.
Edmon Marukyan, a member of “Yelq” fraction, told Aravot.am that during the meeting with the PACE delegates, issues of velvet revolution were discussed.
Mr. Marukyan informed that the Europeans were impressed with the Armenian revolution, praising the revolutionaries and the Armenian people. “There were such general talks”, said Edmon Marukyan.
PACE delegates were also interested in post-revolutionary Armenian processes, in particular, in the mechanisms for implementation of the four points proclaimed by the head of the government.
The European delegates were particularly interested in the question of how the provisional government is going to implement its plans without having the majority in the parliament. It mainly refers to the amendments to the Electoral Code and the organization of extraordinary elections. Edmon Marukyan said that they have presented their position, which is clear: to achieve the solution of the problems by negotiating with the political forces.
