As we have already stated, Nikol Pashinyan went to the parliament today and announced that parliamentary elections will be held in December.
“I think that an important event took place in parliament today, but in a negative aspect. The RPA and perhaps not only the RPA proved once again that they are not able to correctly judge the situation taking place in Armenia. Yes, what happened cannot have taken place without any consequences, and I am therefore preparing to make an important political announcement,” Nikol Pashinyan told reporters.
“Now, if anyone was wondering whether there’s a counterrevolution in Armenia or not, now we can say for sure that yes, there is a counterrevolution in Armenia, and it consists of all the people and political forces who support that plan. I have been assured that the plan was initiated by three political forces. Any parliamentarian who states that they support that plan is against the revolution, I say, and they want the corrupt system to get revenge against the government. We obviously won’t allow for that to happen,” Nikol Pashinyan said. He was referring to the draft created by RPA and “Tsarukyan” parliamentarians Arpine Hovhannisyan and Gevorg Petrosyan to change the system of the National Assembly, in order to limit the possibility of parliament dissolving.
When asked if he will continue negotiations with political forces regarding parliamentary elections, Nikol Pashinyan said, “After the latest advancements, parliamentary elections will take place in December of 2018.”
