Pashinyan: ‘No written or verbal agreement’

October 03,2018 17:56

After negotiating with the members of the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan approached citizens who were waiting for him. He presented the results of the negotiations.

According to Pashinyan, he expressed to Speaker Ara Babloyan that there is a political crisis in the country that needs to be overcome. According to all the members of his political faction, they agreed that the crisis needs to be overcome and that Armenia needs to come out victorious.

Nikol Pashinyan announced that he will resign from his position in the next few days, but the factions of the National Assembly need to realize that, if they elect another person to be Prime Minister, then that may cause a poor reaction from the people.

He explained, “I think that it will be best if we sign a document that states that I will resign on this date, and then the political factions will not nominate a new candidate, and there will be no vote the second time, and as a result, we will have parliamentary elections in December.”

The political forces said that they accept the people’s call and they regard it with respect. “The three factions said that they aren’t preparing to nominate any candidate for Prime Minister either time.”

“We showed that holding new parliamentary elections is the demand of the people. The political forces that will be against this demand want to wage a civil war against the people. I think that our colleagues in the RPA, Tsarukyan alliance, and ARF realize this. We have solved this problem, but there is no final verbal or written agreement.”
