“We do not have any offers to form an alliance right now. We have not mentioned any plans to make an offer to any party to form an alliance during any of our meetings. When such issues are discussed soon, or if we receive offers from other political forces, we will consider them within the framework of our values and our ideals,” member of new Citizen’s Decision political party, former advisor to deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan who recently resigned from the position, Mikayel Nahapetyan told Aravot.am, responding to the question of if he sees any possibility of collaboration with any political force. It is still unclear whether the political party will be participating in the upcoming snap parliamentary elections on December 9th. “When there is a unified decision regarding our participation, we will be prepared to invest in our efforts. And if we do not participate, we will continue our work as a political party,” Mikayel Nahapetyan assured.
Regarding the fact that the elections will be carried out using the old Electoral Code, Nahapetyan said, “The rating system is an apolitical mechanism, but if there is trust that the election results will not be rigged and there will be no election bribes, even an apolitical system will work, even if the rating system is unacceptable for our party.”
When asked which political parties he refuses to collaborate with, Mikayel Nahapetyan emphasized, “Our values and the present political legislation are important for us to work with someone, and so we will not collaborate with the political forces that are outside of that. The revolution caused a situation where some forces convinced society that they are the ones who carried the revolution and they move according to that agenda. Some forces were unable to convince anyone. That’s why there’s a division between revolutionary and anti-revolutionary, which is natural. Soon, the discussions on black vs. white and revolutionaries vs. anti-revolutionaries need to change.”
