Arsen Torosyan identifies medications used to treat coronavirus patients

March 26,2020 17:15

The Minister of Health, Arsen Torosyan, refused to speak about the three soldiers who were confirmed to have the coronavirus. He said that it is not right to provide any personal information. The Ministry of Defense has already provided details on the case. Torosyan said that there are no soldiers among the patients whose condition is poor.

Arsen Torosyan said that patients have been treated with hydroxychloroquine for three days. “Until then, we were treating them with a combination of those medicines, which help to fight against HIV. It is still too early to come to a conclusion based on our personal experience. We have been following international scientific news and we are in contact with China and the United States, where large numbers of patients are being treated. We have been giving patients with chronic illnesses chloroquine and azithromycin whether they have pneumonia or not so that we can prevent pneumonia from developing or getting worse.”

Speaking about the healthcare professionals who have the coronavirus, the minister said that the infected nurse is feeling well. “We have one doctor and one ambulance driver who are ill. This was inevitable because, no matter how much protection we provide them, they are constantly in contact with people who are infected. We need to be able to identify the virus quickly and help them. These three people are doing well, and I hope that they are not a threat to those around them.”
