“At first glance, it is possible to come to the conclusion that Karen Karapetyan either did not want to maintain that government, he was not allowed to, or there were ‘mines’ in the Republican Party and among the coalition partners,” former deputy in the Artsakh parliament and political analyst Vahram Atanesyan told Aravot Daily regarding former President Serzh Sargsyan’s latest interview.
Particularly, this was in reference to Serzh Sargsyan’s statement that he did not “give power to these people” in 2018, but to the first Vice President of the Republican Party, Karen Karapetyan.
“In other words, the 2017 parliamentary elections did not only take place using Serzh Sargsyan’s resources, but also those of the secondary influential power. Who is that or who are they? It seems as though Serzh Sargsyan will not open up about that. We can form conclusions based on the future actions of his party members. That is what I think,” Atanesyan said, adding that Serzh Sargsyan is a very experienced statesman and a bright diplomat, and his speeches are multifaceted and multidimensional. “A lot of ‘homework’ needs to be done in order to receive a full response.”
