“Nikol is not thinking about the people. He is blowing smoke at all of us. He ruined what our people have created over the past 30 years,” a 77-year-old resident of the Davit Bek village of Syunik, Razmik Danielyan, told Aravot Daily in an interview.
He is unable to understand the Prime Minister’s intentions. “Many things have crossed my mind. I have seen almost everything. Now, what does Nikol want? Does he want to stay in power? His remaining is excessive. If he is doing it for security, that’s something different. The longer he remains, the safer he will be,” Razmik Danielyan said. He believes that Nikol Pashinyan is unable to restore the state and revitalize the economy, and most importantly, he believes that the defeated leader must resign.
He ties the government’s failures to Nikol Pashinyan’s lack of experience and his lack of skills in governance.
“He worked as a journalist and editor, but he did not have experience leading a country. I am not trying to insult journalists, but being the leader of a country is not a game,” Razmik Danielyan said. He remembered that in the past, people needing to undergo certain training in order to work as a secretary or chair. Perhaps Pashinyan would have been able to be a successful leader if he were surrounded by experienced people. “The people who came into power with him are also inexperienced. You can say that one or two people are working, and the rest just praise themselves,” the 77-year-old Davit Bek resident said.

Razmik Danielyan can talk about many things and speak about many government plans. “They say that they’re thinking about villagers and creating sanitary conditions for everything to be clean,” Razmik Danielyan said regarding the introduction of slaughterhouses. He is not against it because he also likes regulations and cleanliness. However, people need to take their cows to the slaughterhouse and wait, and then they have to pay 2,400 AMD per kilogram. “You take your cows to the slaughterhouse and find out that they can’t slaughter the cows that day. You have to go home and come back the next day. People have to drive so far,” Razmik Danielyan said. Villagers feel disappointed and they slaughter the cows at home. The villagers would not be opposed to the slaughterhouses if they were closer.
However, selling meat is not what Razmik Danielyan is worried about. He is thinking about the future of Armenia so that the state can be strong, powerful, and so that “people like Aliyev won’t laugh at us.”
“We will defend our land and fight for every inch of it. I am 77 years old, but I will take up arms. However, you need to know that the government is on your side. Otherwise, you can defend your land all you want, but they’ll come and say ‘you have to leave, this is historically Turkish territory,’” Razmik Danielyan said, shocked about how Turks ever had their own land.
When asked if he thinks it’s right that the residents of Davit Bek are leaving the village, he was surprised. “Do I look like a coward? Who are the Turks for Armenians to be afraid of them?” Razmik Danielyan said.
