Analyst Hayk Sukiasyan does not agree that what happened on the Artsakh-Azerbaijani line of contact is described as a provocation by the Azerbaijani side and considers that it is the result of 30 years of barren thinking. According to him, everything that is happening today has deep roots and is aimed at an important project that will increase Armenia’s sovereignty. “It is the North-South that is an opportunity to get out of the East-West corridor-tandem.”
Hayk Sukiasyan said this today during the discussion organized by the Armenian Center for Democracy and Security. According to him, Russian-Turkish interests oppose all this, and the “North is at the helm” of this, because “the flag of Mozambique is not placed in Artsakh, but it is the flag of a superpower” and they can “pull Aliyev’s ears” at any moment, is “a permissible violation.” According to the analyst, today Armenia has the opportunity to cooperate with India and Iran through the Meghri junction, which has aroused the jealousy of others. He considers the current developments to be the best chance to fail or succeed and to live in the era of peace promised by the government.
Azeri expert Taron Hovhannisyan reminded that what happened on October 14th was preceded by the killing of an Armenian civilian in Martakert and the wounding of a Russian peacekeeper, and further analysis of the events led to the fact that this is a state policy by Azerbaijan aimed at occupying the rest of Artsakh, which Azerbaijan has never hidden. Therefore, according to the speaker, there are different ways to achieve this, one of which is to keep the population of Artsakh and Armenia in constant panic, and such incidents will continue.

The expert believes that in order to achieve its goal, Azerbaijan is hindered by the Defense Army and will constantly try to tarnish the reputation of the Defense Army and eventually neutralize it, especially since in their messages they consider the Defense Army a “terrorist structure.”
Regardless of the attitude towards Russia, he believes that Azerbaijan does not need Russian peacekeepers in that area, so neutralization actions will be directed against them as well.
