On March 22, the NA discussed the draft amendments of the Armenia faction to the “Criminal Code” and the “Criminal Procedure Code,” by which the authors propose to fix the questioning or denial of the Armenian territory or part of it belonging to Armenia, also justification or propaganda of the mentioned crime is punishable by a fine of 1-2 million AMD or imprisonment for 2-4 years. Narek Ghahramanyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, asked Aram Vardevanyan, the co-author of the bill, whether he understood correctly that according to the Armenia alliance, signing or joining an agreement with the Russian-Belarusian union would not be against the declaration of independence.
Aram Vardevanyan answered, “I would like to say again that the position of the second president was directly comparable to the EU integration process. Have EU member states renounced their independence? Can anyone say that France or Germany are no longer independent? The same applies to any integration process in Armenia. In my opinion, a large number of RA citizens will always prefer an integration process with Russia while maintaining Armenia’s independence, never, for example, with Turkey.”
Aram Vardevanyan also informed that the project refers to both the expressions of the leaders and officials of the neighboring countries, for example, “Sevan and Yerevan are ours,” and the citizens of Armenia, and the effectiveness in the legal field, according to the author, will surely have an opportunity, for example, to declare internationally wanted officials of neighboring countries expressing encroachments on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.

Vahagn Hovakimyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, asked about when Armenian politicians allegedly criticize the enemy’s speeches, but completely quote them, they spread widely in Armenia, so what is this? “This is done in a negative way, but in reality it is propaganda. Should it be prosecuted by this law now?” Aram Vardevanyan answered, “If it leads to questioning the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, then yes. It does not matter whether the figure is in power, opposition, or neutral.”
