“We can take the whole building by force and hang the flag, but we are not going that way. Soon the police will tell us their decision: we will decide what we are doing,” said Ishkhan Saghatelyan, ARF Dashnaktsutyun NA Deputy Speaker, on May 4 near the Foreign Ministry building. The demonstrators chanted “Nikol the traitor”, “Artsakh”. Artur Vanetsyan and Ishkhan Saghatelyan called on the protesters to remain calm.
Then, Ishkhan Saghatelyan mentioned that “there is no closed door in front of us”, urged the protesters to take a step back, and he will place the Artsakh flag in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after which the peaceful march will continue. To the applause of the protesters and chants of “Artsakh”, the flag of Artsakh was placed in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

After placing the flag and leaving the building, Ishkhan Saghatelyan announced that Artsakh would never be part of Azerbaijan, and that every diplomat sitting in the Foreign Ministry building should fight for Artsakh’s self-determination. “We will go placing the flags of Artsakh, and any official who will not defend the interests of Artsakh must go,” Saghatelyan said, adding that the will of the people is unstoppable, that no other door can be closed to the people, and “any door we want will be kicked open.”
