If you have formed an idea that the main perpetrator of the defeat in the war and the consequent difficult situation is Nikol Pashinyan and his government, then you are a “5-th columnist” and a Russian agent. On the other hand, if you are certain that the revolution in 2018 had to occur, because the completely rotten regime was not effective anymore, then you are a “sorosist”. Therefore, when people throw those groundless accusations at each other, they, basically, do not consider the dependence on Kremlin or western grants. By using those labels, they equalize “their owns” and “outsiders”, developing the corresponding conspiracy theories.
It is often said that people believe those theories because it is a way to avoid responsibility. Putin sits in the Kremlin, and somewhere in Europe or America sits Soros, and all the events worldwide take place because of their evil will. But those theories also spread because of how interesting the stories are. If you are not content with a certain action of the Armenian government, and you are a regular Armenian citizen, it is less interesting than if you were surrounded by a negative, but somewhat “romantic” illusion of a foreign spy.
Certainly, there are some people who support Kreml’s actions, whether it is for their benefit or not. And there are those who curse Russia because of internal beliefs or grants. There are some Armenians who actually admire Putin, or vice versa – hate him. There are also the propagandists, who support or oppose the current government by labeling people they are not fond of “sorosists” or “5-th columnists”.
All of that is normal, every more or less democratic country has such cases. In the end, all opinions, despite their motives, should have their place and particularly deserve publication. You just should not treat those tales seriously. Those are words thrown up in the air, which spread quickly in that air.

By the way, I find it hard to believe that a country with a military base and border guards needs a branched network of agencies in a small state like ours.
