The civic initiative “Recognition of the Republic of Artsakh” recently organized a rally supporting Artsakh. They made a statement in Freedom Square and then marched to the Russian Embassy. According to the statement, according to the November 9 document, the Lachin Corridor should be under the control of Russian peacekeeping forces, and Azerbaijan should ensure the safe movement of citizens, vehicles, and cargo through the corridor.
Member of the initiative, head of “Public Control” NGO Mher Karagozyan said in his speech. “It’s just impossible to remain silent when we know that we have 120,000 people who are in captivity, we have 350 people who need immediate medical attention, who need to be treated either here or need to be sent there. There were heavy mortar attacks on the sovereign territory of RA, which is happening under the silent gaze of the Russian Federation. There is Russian criminal activity associated with the events. In this case, the road was closed by Russian equipment, not by 40-50 muskrat-loving, pigeon-killing so-called environmentalists. Unbelievable that they could achieve their goals under the supervision of real peacekeepers. If they have assumed the peacekeeping mission, they must carry out their actions responsibly and not approach them with bias or selectively. How was it that the Russian troops could not block the path of 40-50 musket-loving environmentalists and were not could not secure the way of an entire Armenian people with their equipment? If they do not fulfill their obligations, it is senseless to have such an embassy in Yerevan.”
While marching, the members of the initiative called on the public to join, they shouted: “It is unacceptable to have 120 thousand Armenians in captivity and remain silent.” “Since Russia does not fulfill its alliance obligations, it violates all Armenian-Russian agreements. Therefore it is pointless to have the Russian Embassy in Yerevan,” said Mher Karagozyan.
Narek Ayvazyan, a member of the initiative near the Russian Embassy, announced that if Russia does not fulfill its obligations, it will start a political movement to withdraw Russian troops from the territory of Armenia.
