The Committee Chair highlighted cooperation with Sweden in the format of Armenia-EU relations as well

On March 15, the NA Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations Sargis Khandanyan hosted Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Armenia Patrik Svensson.

By Sargis Khandanyan’s assessment, inter-parliamentary relations between Armenia and Sweden are active. The Committee Chair highlighted the effective cooperation between the delegations of two countries on various international parliamentary platforms.

Touching upon the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Sargis Khandanyan underscored that Azerbaijan continues to block the Lachin Corridor, grossly violating the obligations assumed by the trilateral statement of 9 November 2020 and ignoring the decision of the UN International Court of Justice.

The Committee Chair highlighted cooperation with Sweden in the format of Armenia-EU relations as well, thanking Sweden for its support in deploying the EU civilian observation mission on the border of Armenia. Sargis Khandanyan valued the financial support provided by the Swedish Government in the development of a number of spheres, including the support for developing the institutional capacity of the National Assembly.

Patrik Svensson congratulated Sargis Khandanyan on being elected as the Committee Chair. Emphasizing the deepening of cooperation with Armenia in various fields, the Ambassador expressed willingness to support the development of bilateral relations.

Sargis Khandanyan also referred to the process of normalization of Armenia-Turkey relations.
