August 15,2023 12:12

The Armenians of Los Angeles surrounded the building of the Azerbaijani consulate and protested in front of the Azerbaijani consulate for hours. Artհur Sahakyan, a journalist living in the USA, reports this on his Facebook page, also published live footage from the demonstration. Our compatriots in Los Angeles demand the unblocking of the Lachine Corridor.

“This is not a  gathering for Nikol, Kocharyan, or Serdz; this is a pan-Armenian gathering. It is the duty of all of us to be here; there are no political party conversations here, and every Armenian gathered here is heartbroken about the condition of our compatriots in Artsakh. We have yet to see a stronger community. The Armenian community of Los is the best in the world; we are with our compatriots in spirit, heart, without formalities,” said one of the demonstration participants.

Little Avet from Artsakh also participated in the show and performed the song “Getashen.” Singer Lilu was also present. There was also a young man in a military uniform among the demonstration participants, who was applauded by the demonstrators and brought to the stage.

By the way, the place where the Armenians are demonstrating is called Artsakh Square; the city council made such a decision in May of this year. The participants of the demonstration announced that they would keep the area surrounded for several days, where not only the building of the consulate of Azerbaijan is located, but also that of 7-8 countries. “If there are too many of us, the police cannot disperse the demonstration or open the street,” said one of the demonstration participants.

“Effective work does not happen with one gathering, one protest; we have to fight constantly because if we remain silent, the enemy will say, there is no fighter, I will take this, I will take that… Each of us has a friend in Artsakh and Armenia. One should be here for the homeland, sometimes shout, and even take radical steps. About 5,000 Armenian youths gave their lives to Artsakh. We are not in a situation to give our lives, but Artsakh and our compatriots have expectations from us. We must speak out about Artsakh. We cannot bring anything to Artsakh, but we can raise our voice unanimously in different instances,” he added.

The Armenians of Los Angeles have decided to blockade for several days the area where the buildings of the consulates of Azerbaijan and other countries are. “Let them understand what the blockade is. Genocide is being committed in Artsakh in the 21st century,” said one of the protesters.
