Did a young couple from Kajaran try to commit suicide?

January 11,2012 11:58

Late Monday evening, at around 11pm, the ambulance workers of the Kapan Medical Center transferred two 23-year-old residents of the town of Kajaran to the hospital from “Lernagorts” (miner) hotel in Syunik capital Kapan. They had cutting injuries on various parts of their bodies.

According to Sarik Atajanyan, the head of the injuries department of the Kapan Medical Center, the young man was unconscious while being transferred to the hospital with a considerable amount of blood loss and the girl’s body injuries were much deeper, they were on the neck. “We provided respective medical aid to the patients on the spot, blood transfusion was made, we made a surgery and were able to rescue their lives. The condition of the young people is satisfactory as for now”, informed Doctor Atajanyan.

According to my interlocutor, the incident can be assessed as self-injury. The psychiatrist who had come to the hospital did not notice any mental aberrations, both of the young people answered questions they had been asked clearly.

According to our information, the young man called his friend in Kajaran and said over the phone, “We are committing suicide, we are dying.” The friend immediately called for an ambulance.

The workers at “Lernagorts” (miner) hotel were not even informed about the incident and found out about that only after the ambulance arrived. The young people are not related, allegedly, they are a loving couple. The young man is a worker at Kajaran Combine and the young woman is unemployed.
