Resistance

November 24,2012 12:39

3 people aspire after the office of the Khosrov Reserve director. As for how one of them, Gabriel Poghosyan, takes his exam, a video is uploaded to the web, and everyone can learn about his intellectual level and literacy. (By the way, it wouldn’t be bad, if candidates for president also took such public exams; everything would be much clearer.) Yesterday environmentalists stated at their press conference that Mr. Poghosyan had a secondary education and had been accused of poacher at the time. However, I don’t think that even if other candidates had a diploma of higher education, they would differ from this aspirant in any way. And the competition is a formality – in reality, everything is predetermined by, as it is commonly called, “corruption risks.” And if we avoid that allegory and express ourselves more plainly, we can say that the Khosrov Reserve director will be appointed for money, in return for a bribe and will earn money during his future career, organizing the hunting, parties and feasts of oligarchs and high-level officials. It will happen not only if these three, but also if someone else who has a “working experience in the system” is elected. I would believe that the process had taken place without bribery, if Mariam Sukhudyan or anyone from her group was appointed the director of the reserve. Certainly, it is not ruled out, but even if we admit such possibility just theoretically, we should assert – appointing a “Sukhudyan” man is not enough, because after working for a year, it is very probably that s/he will not differ from Gabriel Poghosyan and the others who have a “working experience in the system” in any way, because, as we know, experience is gained with time.

Nonetheless, there is something positive – there are social activists who, in my opinion, can be trusted. That is what makes them different from politicians who are with this one today and that one tomorrow, “urge” to criticize someone today and to praise the same person tomorrow etc. And it is normal; that is politics. However, besides those “tactical” games, there should be non-politicized social resistance to evil. Persecuting people for political purposes is evil. Enjoying killing animals is evil too; getting excited seeing blood is pathology. Appointing to an office for money too.
