“Our power party”

February 15,2014 13:59

The ANC’s youth “awareness” leaflets contain insults addressed to the President of Armenia, it is, in my opinion, not good. Political forces should probably think about how to achieve their goals without curses and insults, no matter whom they are addressed: a president, political and public figure, or, let’s say, a cleaner. Offense, labeling, recurring qualifications like mantras, it seems to me, are the result of lack of arguments.

But, it is worse that crazy idea emerges in some circles of the Republican Party to send their youth to the streets to fight with the ANC’s youth. And, the leader of these Republican structures, Karen Avagyan, in fact, confirms that his young party members actions were directed from above. Therefore, it is not just an ordinary hooliganism, but extreme degeneration of young people, the consequences of which will produce effect to the society for years, maybe decades.

Young Republicans are often compared to “Komsomols”, but this is a poor comparison. Nevertheless, the Komsomol activists of 70-80s, of course, were cynical, of course, were careerists, did not really believe in anything, but it did not occur to the mind of any Komsomol, or Communist leader to create “tester-commands” at the university, in the form of Students’ Councils, which should implement punitive actions against opponents and journalists. If our future “elite” will be generating from “sakulik-haikuliks” from RPA’s youth punitive detachments of the State University, Academy of Agriculture, and the State University of Economic Studies, let me assume that our future will not be so bright.

“Whatever our power party decides, so will happen,” says RPA MP Arakel Movsisyan (168.am). This phrase “power”, of course, is the manifestation of the MP’s ignorance. Anyway, this was one of the mistakes of the language, which accurately reflects the current situation: one of the main resources of this type of ruling parties is the “powers”, in this case, the police sponsorship. For this very sense, the above-mentioned parties are “power”.

Such “power” is strictly temporary and an ineffective tool. According to the German philosopher Erich From, “many believe that power is the most real thing in the world, but the history showed that it is the most transitory of all human achievements.”
