“Whatever Sarkozy be accused of, I am not going to change my child’s name.”

July 02,2014 16:52

As it is known, the French police have arrested the former French President Nicolas Sarkozy for 24 hours. He is suspected of using unknown financial resources during the 2012 presidential election campaign, particularly, receiving 50 thousand euro from the co-owner of L’Oreal company, Liliane Bettencourt, through the abuse of trust. Aravot.am asked the mother of a child born in Akhurik two and a half years ago and named in honor of French President Sarkozy, Naira Khachatryan, whether they do not intend to rename the child, that there are various charges voiced against the owner of the name, and now the president of France is arrested on corruption case.

“I have never regretted and will never change my child’s name, no matter Nicolas Sarkozy is accused of. My child’s birth certificate indicates Sarkozy Avetisyan in honor of Nicolas Sarkozy, and it will stay like this. I must say that my Sarkozy is a man of his name. Frankly speaking, I was saddened to learn the news of Nicolas Sarkozy’s arrest. I do not know what this man had done, what corruption he was involved, we are less interested in it, if not saying that we do not really care. I am just very upset about one thing. The French President failed our expectations. We named our child Sarkozy being inspired by the adoption of the bill by the French Senate criminalizing denial of the Armenian genocide, but Nicolas Sarkozy failed to pass the bill to the end. If you are initiating something, then fight for it…Our only disappointment is this,” said the mother of little Sarkozy.
