The opposition failed (at least at this stage) to carry out a regime change. The government used its administrative and power levers to prevent it. Earlier, Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Robert Kocharyan authorities conducted likewise and even by more “power” method. Hence, all kinds of complaints by the first and the second presidents’ supporters are not sincere. If I am bald, I cannot blame others for being bald, it would even look slightly funny from the side.
However, there are wonderful, decent and likable people in all the teams, who, apparently, should continue being involved in politics. We cannot invite aliens for it, can we? Those who leave should not cast a shadow on those who stay and sow doubt in people about who were the sincere ideological warriors, and who were the trouble-makers and dissentients who were pursuing “totally different” objectives.
Moreover, these doubts jeopardize the main theses of “non-government Troika”. I will list them: “The government has failed in all respects”, “he is not trusted both in Moscow and in the West,” “he wants to create a one-oligarchic economy,” “Armenia’s economy was thriving during Robert Kocharyan’s tenure,” “the constitutional amendments are for reproduction” and so on. Let us not discuss to what extent all of this meets the reality, just to note that the Troika affiliating party members and the analysts have constantly repeated these campaign formulations. Now a question arises, which of these theses were voiced from the “right place” and which from “another center.”
Usually, in such cases people say, “Well, these are not the parties’ official statements but the people who express their personal opinion.” This also seems to me not so sincere approach. It cannot happen that the wording of a few dozen of speakers “accidentally” word-by-word repeats one another. Similarly, it cannot happen that the ANC would not deny people’s gratitude who provided even a small service to the statehood, however, the ANC supporters attacked David Shahnazaryan, Karapet Roubinyan, Hovhannes Igityan and Alexander Arzumanyan with the same words and phrases in the course of months and years.

Now, as long as it seems that there is a “cease-fire” situation, and there is no need to be thrown into the turmoil of the “propaganda war”, the political forces can calmly and quietly discuss among each other and evaluate the positive and negative aspects of their few years’ completed work. This is perhaps the most righteous way of not being disappointed and not to disappoint the public.
