Republican Party members should mandatorily say in their speeches and interviews, “our leader Serzh Sargsyan,” the ANC members – “our leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan,” the RoL members – our leader Arthur Baghdasaryan. Limited members of further minor party members also usually consider their first figure as a “leader”. However, the PAP members do not call Naira Zohrabyan, as well as the ARF members to Aghvan Vardanyan “leaders”. I think it is the advantage of my listed two political parties, and to the point, I must note with pleasure that both are my former colleagues. They are not leaders, but just coordinators temporarily being elected by the Party congress, who nowadays are the first figures but could not be tomorrow.
Naturally, the problem is not so much with the character of the “leaders”, but primarily with the fact that usually all the party members and all the structures are dependent on the will of one person, his good faith and the resources owned by him. In the case of the RPA, indeed, there are people who do not have financial need, but they need a support in their business from the first figure of their party. In the rest of the political forces, regardless of the number whether they are 3 or 10,000, the “purse” is in the hands of the boss and he would do what he wants. Is it surprising when people honestly say that their party cannot survive without given “leader”. True, they also mean the extraordinary talents and services of the “leader”, but in reality, the matter is much more about financial issues. Meanwhile, the party management, where everything is concentrated in the hands of one person, is not only inefficient, but also outdated.
So, it can be said that indeed the PAP has financially suffered pretty much after these events, but to some extent, it also benefited not only in terms of getting rid of the “rats”, but also to the fact that now, the members of this Party, who could only interpret the words of the “leader” and glorify his every move, now they will no longer be at ease. And the Party elite will have to seriously think about the ideology (this is a hated word for some politicians), the future vision, and the mechanisms of the Party activities that are not based on a person.
Unfortunately, this cannot be said for the majority of the parties.
