March 1 by the “schedule”

March 02,2016 13:38

In the 1990s, we were ironically speaking that in the Diaspora, three traditional political parties operating in the same dwelling place celebrate April 24 separately. Allegedly, we – Armenians – are better than they are. Our parties are also going up to the Genocide Memorial on April 24 at different hours just as they go to Yerablur and Pantheon on October 27. Likewise, they celebrate September 21. Yesterday also they have gone by groups to commemorate the victims of March 1.

I want our political forces and the NGOs sometimes to show that in some fundamental issues they are above political controversies. I am sure that it would be a very important positive message to the citizens who would realize that in addition to the clan and gang “rumbles”, there is also a state, which is above everything else. One year ago, I felt suArmeniaArh a signal from the first president of Armenia, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, who considered it important to change the concept of marking the centennial of the Genocide. As you recall, President Sargsyan has also expressed willingness to discuss the issue. Alas, this initiative did not go any further.

But, all in all, the relations inside the opposition, between various political forces as well as the government and the opposition are not “pro-government”. (a hackneyed word but appropriate in this case).

The oppositions are fighting for who of them is a stiffer opposition and each one is trying to prove that he did not a “Geghamyan” or “Arthur Baghdasaryan.” Now, they have found a new interesting topic: who was a true political prisoner and who is “false.” All of this, of course, is very interesting but it does not mean that we should plan a “schedule” of who and when will go to Myasnikyan Statue for not to accidentally see each other’s face.

Moreover, all the factions (including RPA) of the National Assembly, as well as dozens of organizations should have tried to come up with a joint text, which would condemn the March 1 slaughter. Now, only six organizations are doing it, one of which (“Armenia” People’s initiative) is not so much known to the public.

The logic of accepting the document of my understanding, I understand as follows: in all organizations, there are people who should be against killing people and should understand that the non-disclosure of these crimes is causing harm to the state. What is more important: mutual accusations or this common consciousness?

Certainly, at this point it is impossible, it’s just a dream. But who said that dreaming is bad.
