During the phone talks with the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan US Secretary of State John Kerry on June 30 urged them to continue the peaceful process over Nagorno Karabakh. Kerry highlighted the importance of the implementation of agreements reached in St. Petersburg on June 20, “Armenpress” reports, press service of the US State Department informed.
Kerry stated that “in recent weeks the ceasefire is mainly maintained in the Nagorno Karabakh contact line and the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and urged the Presidents to avoid tension in order to move forward the peaceful process”.
He also stressed the importance of the “implementation of obligations reached at May 16 Vienna and June 20 St. Petersburg meetings”, the statement says.
In addition, John Kerry “confirmed the United States’ support to the substantive negotiations which can contribute to the comprehensive settlement, and strongly urged the Presidents to continue the dialogue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs”, the statement reads.
