On october 24, Edward Nalbandian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, had a meeting with Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager, the Grand Chancellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sovereign Order of Malta, who arrived in Armenia within the delegation of Fra Matthew Festing, the Prince and Grand Master of Sovereign Order of Malta.
The sides discussed issues related to the friendly relations between Armenia and the Sovereign Order of Malta, as well as steps aimed at the development of those relations.
Edward Nalbandian stressed that close cooperation established between the Armenian Cilician Kingdom and the Order during medieval period serves as a solid historical and cultural basis for the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation. Minister Nalbandian highly appreciated the humanitarian programs being implemented by the Sovereign Order of Malta in Armenia and Artsakh.
Baron Albrecht von Boeselager expressed confidence that the state visit of the Grand Master of the Order of Malta to Armenia will open a new page in bilateral relations.

Edward Nalbandian presented the consequences of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan this April against Nagorno-Karabakh, gross violations of international humanitarian law and human rights, which set back the negotiation process on the settlement of conflict.
