System reserve firmness

November 18,2016 12:23

US President Barack Obama, certainly, both inside his country and in the international arena has done good and bad things.  Like any president of any country.  But in general, good or bad, he was trying to protect the values which I share and which are used to be called “European” for the simple reason that they have begun to be formed in Europe.  In particular, the origins of the modern right are in Rome while the first notions about democracy were shaped in Greece.  Obama recently spoke from the Acropolis platform.

“Now, democracy, like all human institutions, is imperfect. It can be slow; it can be frustrating; it can be hard; it can be messy. Politicians tend to be unpopular in democracies, regardless of party, because, by definition, democracies require that you don’t get a hundred percent of what you want. It requires compromise. Winston Churchill famously said that democracy is the worst form of government – except for all the others. And in a multiethnic, multiracial, multicultural society, like the United States, democracy can be especially complicated. Believe me, I know.

But democracy is better than the alternatives because it allows us to peacefully work through our differences and move closer to our ideals. It allows us to test new ideas and it allows us to correct for mistakes.”

The United States, for all that, is a unique country, unique society, a unique democracy which the current US president alludes to.  When we are surprised at why a person like Trump has become a president or why the institute of electors is maintained in this country, there is a very long answer to it if you have closely communicated with this country or to give a short answer, “this is what the people of America wanted”.  I do not attribute the right to me to give a long answer, I will just say that the American state institutions are different from those of in Europe.  The State Department is not a 100 percent foreign ministry, the Federal Reserve System of the is not entirely the same as our known Central Bank, the American federation is not the same as let’s say the German Federation.  The US State system is complex, the mechanism of checks and balances is branched off and multi-layer which creates a certain reserve of firmness by “smoothly overcoming the differences,” as Obama notes.

In modern Europe, as I understand, everything is much simpler and (do not get surprised) more fragile because of it.  Certainly, the European state model is more acceptable for us.  Simply these circumstances must be taken into account.
