On November 19, Prime Minister of the Artsakh Republic Arayig Harutyunian visited the city of Martuni and participated in the charity event for over 30 multi-member families of the region hosted at the local cultural center.
As reported the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Government of the Artsakh Republic, at the initiative of Russian-Armenian benefactor Hamlet Vachenants, over 30 needy and multi-member families of the Martuni region received clothes, furniture, domestic applicants and other necessary commodities as assistance according to priority. Benefactors Onig Yevrigian, Semion Davidov and Gagik Ayvazian also participated in the charity program. They had arrived in Artsakh to get acquainted with the families and express their support.
Greeting the benefactors, Artsakh’s Prime Minister expressed gratitude for their major initiative and stated that such charities were aimed at solving social issues and were of major significance for the population and the government. “One of the strategic priorities of the government is the ensuring of demographic growth. For that purpose, we are carrying out several state programs for needy and multi-member families, but government funding is not enough to solve the social issues that particularly face multi-member families. So, it is great to see Diaspora Armenians support those families along with the government,” the Prime Minister said and voiced hope that this would set an example for others. In his speech, Harutyunian also expressed gratitude to Russian-Armenian benefactor Garen Ghazarian for his great support to the implementation of several major state programs and awarded him with the Commemorative Medal of the Prime Minister for his services provided to the homeland. The benefactor was also attending the event.
Head of the administration of Martuni region Karen Tovmasian expressed gratitude to the benefactors and granted certificates of appreciation on behalf of the administration of the region. In their turn, the benefactors expressed gratitude for the cordial reception and appreciation and stated that they would continue to carry out programs for support to Artsakh.
