July 08,2018 18:40

Within the framework of the cases on concealing the property not registered in the bill of entry and obtaining wealth illegally being investigated by the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia, on 06.07.2018 the investigator made decision to involve Lyova Sargsyan, brother of former president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, and his daughter, Ani Sargsyan, as accused by the Paragraph 1 of Article 310.1 and Paragraph 2 of Article 314.3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Lyova Sargsyan’s son, Narek Sargsyan, was also charged with Part 1 of Article 310.1 of the Criminal Code.

The investigation revealed that Lyova Sargsyan, Special Envoy of Armenia and his daughter, submitted their property and income declarations to the Ethics Committee of high-ranking officials during the reporting period in 2017, where they did not enter the amount of the deposit money and hid it.

It also turned out that Narek Sargsyan, being a member of the family of an official, did not submit his bills of entry to the Ethics Committee of high-ranking officials, thus concealing his illegal accumulation of wealth during the reporting period. That is the growth of Narek Sargsyan’s property has also substantially surpassed his legal income and is not reasonably grounded.

Thus, the investigation proved that Lyova, Ani and Narek Sargsyans have illegally obtained property by hiding amounts of 3.482.269 dollars, 600.000 dollars, 1.928.009 dollars, and 744.133 dollars. On 06.07.2018, the investigator of the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia appealed to the court for choosing detention as a preventive measure against Lyova Sargsyan, which was satisfied on the same day by the court decision. The preliminary investigation is underway.
