Our sources in Constantinople write that on October 26th, as secretly as possible, Archbishop Aram Ateshyan will be visiting Ejmiatsin.
What Ateshyan’s purpose in visiting Armenia is and what the circumstances surrounding his visit are, remain a mystery. However, taking into consideration the fact that he is serving as the head of the Istanbul Patriarchate much to the dismay of the Armenian people, especially to the dismay of Istanbul Armenians, and that he called Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan his brother a few months ago in December 2017, it’s easy to assume that Ateshyan’s mission doesn’t have a pro-Armenian foundation.
With the expectation that any negative developments against the Armenian people and the Armenian Apostolic Church will be prevented, it is also expected of the Armenian Catholicos that any decisions made with the Istanbul Patriarchate and especially with Aram Ateshyan be done so in a completely transparent manner, while keeping the Armenian people and Armenian leaders notified of what is happening.
