The deputy head of the Chambarak village in Gegharkunik, Robert Ohanyan, told Aravot Daily that Chambarak has not yet been discovered by tourists. “People probably avoid coming here because it’s close to the border. However, we have beautiful nature,” he said.
According to Robert Ohanyan, the residents of Chambarak stay there due to patriotism. They refuse to leave their birthplace, despite the fact that it faces many difficulties as a border village. However, he did sadly note that some people from Chambarak go elsewhere for work, including Yerevan and nearby villages, where it is possible to make money to support their families. He added, “Every store in the village has debts. When five years is up, the hopeless store owners destroy the old notebooks and purchase new ones.”
