Prime Minister to students: ‘Many people say they have higher education, but their quality of life is poor’

August 31,2019 20:03

“This is the perfect opportunity to speak about knowledge and education because I hope that you all can see that education is one of the biggest priorities for the current government of Armenia,” Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said. He visited the winners of the Kangaroo, Bees, and Russian Bear competitions for the 2018-2019 school year at Baghramyan 26.

“Armenia is a democratic nation full of free and proud citizens. This has a direct connection to education. The connection is that the citizens are no longer being governed, but they are the ones doing the governing. Being a citizen means being able to make decisions and take responsibility for those decisions,” the Prime Minister said.

According to him, education is the most important part of being able to take control of your own life, of being able to make decisions, and of being able to take responsibility for those decisions. “People in Armenia frequently speak about the quality of life, but we need to clearly explain to our citizens that the only guarantor of having a good life is through education. I understand that there are people who might say that they have higher education, but their quality of life is poor. Education does not mean a diploma. It’s not only the diploma, but an entire process that needs to follow a person throughout their lives both before and after school and before and after university.”

He added that one of the most important actions the government needs to take is that it can provide every child with the opportunity to continue their education.
