Thirty-two people have been quarantined due to the possibility that they contracted the new coronavirus. They are being quarantined at the Golden Palace Hotel in Tsaghkadzor. Minister of Health Arsen Torosyan spoke about this during a press conference.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that one case of the coronavirus was confirmed in Armenia. Torosyan said that the 29-year-old coronavirus patient is not experiencing any symptoms currently, despite the fact that he had a 38-degree fever when he went to the doctor. But his wife tested negative for the coronavirus.
Regarding statements about how the Iran-Armenia border should have closed, the minister said that, according to the Armenian Constitution, Armenian citizens’ entry into Armenia must not be blocked. This is not only due to legislation, but also due to humanitarian reasons and the love for the homeland.
The minister said that Armenian citizens were under medical protection during the flight from Iran to Armenia. They were given masks. None of them experienced any symptoms and they were all taken home. “Not everyone was quarantined because it has not been proven that that is an effective method. It is also not advised by the World Health Organization. What took place yesterday is a classic example of a confirmed case. That is how it was supposed to be.”

Regarding the people who came into contact with the ill patient, the minister said that the travelers from Tehran and all the employees wore masks. “They went on a separate route when they left the airport in Armenia. They did not come into contact with anyone and they did not prove to be dangerous to those around them. However, in accordance with international recommendations, those sitting two rows behind them, two rows in front of them, and in their same row will be quarantined for 14 days, which is taking place right now and is in its final phase. The citizen who took the patient and his wife home was also quarantined, as well as the other citizen who was with them. The information provided to the Prime Minister last night was not complete. The NSS discovered the circumstances within several hours. The citizen went to the hospital in an ambulance. All of the employees on the ambulance have also been quarantined. Those outside are not considered to be in the risk zone. If his wife did not even have the coronavirus, we can assume that the possibility is low that anyone else is infected. But we are keeping all passengers under supervision.”
