Residents will harvest fields in Lachin corridor after negotiations with Russian border guards

June 05,2021 18:30

The head of the extended Tegh community, Nerses Shadunts, was able to successfully negotiate with the commanders of the Russian border guards in order for the residents to be able to harvest the fields on the right side of the road leading to Dzaghazur until the border of the Kornidzor village.

In an interview with Aravot Daily, Nerses Shadunts noted that this is referring to the grasslands near the Lachin corridor. According to the agreement, work will begin on Sunday. “This area only refers to the Lachin corridor. Most likely, the Russian border guards will stay there, and the residents will tend to the fields. They do not come there, and if we do not go there and tend to the fields, there is danger of fire. That is why it is also beneficial for the enemy to harvest those fields. I must say that they also need to harvest the fields in the areas under their control, which they have already started doing,” Shadunts said.

The negotiations with the Russian border guards lasted two days. The Tegh municipality will provide a notice to the people who have grasslands in that area so that many do not go and disturb the harvest. The head of the community was unable to say how many people will go to harvest the fields. He thinks that anyone who has grasslands will go.

The command of the Russian N military unit serving in the Tegh community of Syunik as of November 10, 2020, awarded the leader of the Tegh community, Nerses Shadunts, with a souvenir of gratitude for the close cooperation and conscientious work on the occasion of the First Republic Day. The Russian officer staff highly assessed the devotion and work ethic of the community leader. This cooperation has especially deepened in the protection of the borders.
