“Regarding the army, criminal cases are initiated and investigated. In my opinion, their consequence will be that yes, there could be another way out. I think it is important that we finally find the answer: why did it happen like that, why was there no other way out,” said Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan at a meeting with representatives of the Armenian community in Vladivostok.
He noted, “These are very serious issues. Were there any forces that were interested in that outcome of the war? And not only were they interested, but they also wanted a change of power in Armenia. I am not making a claim, but now facts are emerging that strengthen this question for me.
I hope that the law enforcement officers will be sufficiently objective. Some were experimenting in 2020-2021 to create the impression that I and the government want to cover up the circumstances of the war. No, on the contrary, the truth must be revealed. And now, when there are specific actions, they say that we want to throw it at the army. No, we want to understand what happened. If it is confirmed, then there were orders from the commanders, which I cannot understand… who, what?”
Pashinyan added: “They said that the authorities gave away Shushi, they sold Shushi. A criminal case has been initiated. A person was arrested, and now they are acting in defense. Now, who gave Shushi away? Why are you protecting them? You were swinging a sword during the war. This topic will not end, I promise. The day after the war, they demanded my resignation because I handed over Shushi, and now, when there are arrests, those people are making statements. Didn’t you want the culprits to be revealed… why should we forgive anyone, whatever badge they want on their shoulder, whatever medal they want on their chest? There is no forgiveness for those people. It is an impression that they were not guided by my orders, but by the orders that came from me. No general who steals from the army will be forgiven. Back in 2018, I gathered the generals and made a condition not to steal from the army.”
