Presidеnt of the Artsakh Republic Arayik Harutyunyan signed decrees according to which for exceptional bravery and personal courage in defending the state border of the Artsakh Republic during the large-scale military hostilities unleashed by the enemy in April 2016, machine gunner of the 2nd rifle detachment of the 2nd rifle platoon of the 4th rifle squad of the N military unit, private Kyaram Sloyan and machine gunner of the 3rd rifle detachment, private Andranik Zohrabyan were posthumously bestowed the highest title of “Hero of Artsakh”.
On November 17, in the representation of the Artsakh Republic to the Republic of Armenia, President Harutyunyan met with relatives of Kyaram Sloyan and Andranik Zohrabyan and handed over the “Golden Eagle” orders.
Relatives of the heroes, their comrades-in-arms, representatives of the Yezidi community of Armenia were present at the ceremony.

In his remarks, President Harutyunyan, on behalf of the people of Artsakh, conveyed gratitude to the parents of Kyaram Sloyan and Andranik Zohrabyan for raising such patriotic and selfless sons noting that the defense of the positions entrusted to them had a decisive influence on the outcome of the April 2016 war.
“Artsakh is our sanctuary, the permanence of Artsakh has no alternative for us, because for centuries and to this day Artsakh has been and remains the dignity of Armenians”, remarked Atom Zohrabyan, gather of Andranik Zohrabyan.
Ayser Isayan, head of the Yezidi national movement “Mala Ezida”, attached great importance to the event, noting that Kyaram is the first Yezidi fighter who received the highest state award of the Artsakh Republic, the title of “Hero of Artsakh”, and this event is a symbol of the centuries-old friendship of the Armenian and Yezidi peoples, another assurance of martial brotherhood.
