The High Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan received the newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia, Mehdi Sobhani.
Welcoming the guests, Zareh Sinanyan presented the programs implemented by the office to the ambassador.
“Armenian-Iranian historical ties, cultural appeals, and examples of cooperation in many fields prove strong relations. Armenia values friendship with Iran and highly appreciates bilateral relations,” the High Commissioner noted.

Both sides emphasized the importance of thousand-year-old Armenian-Iranian ties, the role of the Armenian diaspora in bilateral relations, and the importance of new opportunities for mutual cooperation. A conversation was held about the format of Armenia-diaspora relations and the issues of diaspora involvement.
Various problems of regional and security importance were also touched upon during the meeting.
