The meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia with the GCC Secretary General
On November 18, in Manama, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Ararat Mirzoyan and Jassim Mohammed Al-Budaiwi discussed issues of stability and security in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.

Touching upon the extremely negative consequences for the civilian population resulting from conflicts in different parts of the world, Ararat Mirzoyan emphasised that just two months ago, in September, as a result of the military attack of Azerbaijan, the entire Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh was forced to leave their homeland, being subjected to an inhumane blockade for more than nine months previously. The Foreign Minister of Armenia presented the Government’s steps aimed at properly accepting more than 100,000 forcibly displaced Armenians in the Republic of Armenia, addressing their needs and rights.
Emphasising that Armenia has always been committed to the establishment of comprehensive peace in the South Caucasus, Minister Mirzoyan presented the principles to which the commitment of all involved parties, including Azerbaijan, will allow to resolve the existing problems. The main principles of mutual recognition of territorial integrity without ambiguities, delimitation based on the 1991 Alma-Ata declaration and the most recent maps of the USSR, as well as the unblocking of regional communications under the sovereignty and jurisdiction of states were emphasised. In this context, Ararat Mirzoyan presented to the GCC Secretary General the “Crossroads of Peace” project initiated by the Government of Armenia, with its political and economic components and investment attractiveness.
Issues of mutually beneficial cooperation between Armenia and the Gulf states in various fields were also touched upon at the meeting.
