1lurer.am. The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, expressed hope that he will be informed by the representative of the United States Department of State that the relations between Baku and Washington are returning to the previous level.
“Today the situation is such that the mediation mission of the peace treaty with Armenia is carried out by the European Union, the other direction is Moscow, there is also the United States,” Aliyev said.
According to him, this was the first case of tension in the history of bilateral relations with the United States. “Our countries had strategic relations, and the current administration has destroyed them. We don’t know what the cause is. But if the United States says that relations will not be the same as before, then it turns out that Washington is withdrawing from mediation in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia,” Aliyev said.
